Quick Answer
This reflection for Jesus Calling November 24 encourages you to ask God for wisdom freely, because the Bible promises He gives it generously and without scolding.
Scripture for Today
- James 1:5 (KJV):
“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.”
Reflection: Asking God for Wisdom You Don’t Have
Many people feel embarrassed to ask for help, especially when they think they should already know the answer. We carry that shame into prayer and ask timidly, if at all.
James says God gives “liberally” and “upbraideth not,” meaning He does not scold you for needing help. A good teacher doesn’t mock a student for raising a hand. Bring your real question to Him: the job choice, the family conflict, the money decision. Then act on the next step that looks clear, and stay open to correction.
Try This Today
- Pray Over One Decision: Write down one decision and pray James 1:5 over it.
- Seek Believing Counsel: Ask a wise believer for input.
- Take the Next Step: Take the next small step and watch what happens.
Prayer for Today
Father,
I lack wisdom, and I’m asking. Give me clear thinking and humility, and help me trust You with the outcome.
Amen.
